One of my favourites is the Green Pea Cookies 青豆饼 $15.50, featuring fragrant buttery cookies that are both crunchy and melty on the tongue. The texture and ratio of peas to the base has just the right kind of balance. Plus, it is really addictive enough to have me reaching for more.

Another strong contender is the Pork Floss Roll Snack 肉松粒 $16.90. Bite into these golden pockets to reveal mouth-watering fluffy pork floss. I simply can’t get enough of this. The sheer tiny size makes it so easy to pop one after another into my mouth.

The Pineapple Tarts 原味黄梨饼 $16.90 is, gladly, not too sweet, with a tinge of sourishness against the thick buttery crust that’s rather fine-tasting and nothing cloying.

Generously studded with ground almonds, the Almond Cookies 杏仁酥饼 $15.50 is a nutty indulgence with a sweeter note to it.

Poon Confectionary’s Chinese New Year goodies are indeed palate revelry. I enjoy the flavours, while at the same time, being particularly impressed at the delicateness of the buttery texture.
