Restaurant How Inn – Claypot Catfish & dry Bak Kut Teh in Johor Bahru

A few years back when I was introduced to Restaurant How Inn by some Malaysian friends, I wondered how the claypot catfish (a dish I don’t see in Singapore) would taste like.
Restaurant How Inn is popular for the dry Bak Kut Teh (that can serve up to six diners) and Claypot Catfish (in three sizes).

A recent visit to Johor Bahru brought me back here again for a piping hot claypot of chunky catfish. I would recommend going straight for the large portion as the small one didn’t come with many fishes. The flavours were rich, with each piece of fish heavily cladded in a thick savoury sauce. Texture-wise, instead of the typical succulent fish meats, this was more firm and required a little bit of chew.
The Bak Kut Teh came with a medley of ingredients and we also topped up RM5 per item for add-ons such as enoki mushrooms, pork liver and pork intestines.
