Restoran Kacang Pool Haji, JB Malaysia – Stewed Bean with Toast and Dried Lontong
Located along Jalan Dato Jaafar, Restoran Kacang Pool Haji is a Malay eatery that offers the famed kacang pool and lontong in Johor Bahru, Malaysia.
The place is spacious, airy and made up of Malay customers when I was there on a weekend afternoon. The menu is in Malay too.
The signature Kacang Pool (Daging) RM7 is a tasty bowl (pool) of stewed beans, topped with a sunny-side-up egg, diced onions and chillis. It is hearty and flavourful, with whole pieces of beans found inside too. A thick fluffy toast accompanies the dish.
The Lontong Kering RM7, a dried version of the lontong, comes with chicken, fried beancurd, a few tasty sauces, and one of the softest rice cake I have ever eaten.
Both dishes are amazing and one can have them at any time of the day, be it breakfast, brunch, dinner or supper.
