Terra Madre – Pretty Australian-style Brunch with Vegan-friendly Options at Dempsey Hill

Take #supportlocal to new levels when you dine at Terra Madre, an Australian-style cafe that recently opened its doors on the picturesque grounds of Dempsey Hill. Comprising a dining area and the largest organic natural food store in Singapore, Terra Madre prides itself on making healthy and pure foods available to all, while driving sustainable businesses and fair pay for its employees.

The menu is certainly ambitious, with three different rotations of appetisers, plates, and desserts available throughout the day.

For breakfast, diners can look forward to delicious, bread and egg-based staples. Vegan-friendly options include Smoky Pumpkin Hummus & Macadamia Dukkah with Poached Egg $21 and Smashed Avocado with Vine Leaf Verde $24. The latter had the avocado lover in me singing, with generous heapings of avocado practically falling over the plate! The poached eggs were lovely, too, and the lime helped to add some citrusy zest.

While Japanese-style sandos may be all the rage now, Terra Madre does a mean couple of toasties. The Roasted Butternut and Taleggio Toastie $18 is another vegan-friendly option that packs fresh butternut squash with savoury melted cheese. While the BLAT Toastie $19, with its streaky smoked bacon wedged between iceberg lettuce, avocado, and trussed tomato, is the perfect perk-me-up for those seeking their morning bacon fix.

The most indulgent dish from Terra Madre’s brunch selection is also one of the most deceptively simple-looking ones. Cut into the Nduja & Spinach Omelette $25 and be surprised by the burst of umami flavours from the feta and smoked paprika oil which elevate the mustardy Italian sausage paste.

Rosti also gets luxed up here at Terra Madre. The Grilled Corn Rosti & Charred Baby Carrots $21 is one of the prettier breakfast offerings!

For desserts, diners can choose from a trio of artfully crafted sweets. The Calabaza Squash Mousse Cake $15 is one for the books, with its refreshing combination of spiced ginger meringue with cream cheese mousse on a gluten-free sponge. Definitely a not-so-common find.

Those with classic-leaning palates will delight in the Vegan Chocolate Tart $19, which combines a rich vegan chocolate mousse with crunchy pecan streusel and yuzu ganache.
