UMAMI Softserve – Rich Matcha & Black Sesame Ice Cream Parfait at Paradigm Mall, Johor Malaysia

A trip to Paradigm Mall is not complete without a stop at UMAMI Softserve. Located at level 2, it took me a few trips to the directory and several escalators to spot the open-spaced cafe. Decked in white-washed tables and chairs, and a decorated Instagram corner at the table top, the cafe could easily seat several tables and serve as a nice after-meal dessert place.

Soft Serve flavours come in Matcha, Black Sesame and Nama Chocolate, and you can add on five other toppings like the Shiratama, Roasted Rice Puff, Azuki Red Bean and Warabi Mochi at RM 1.5 each.

Mixing of flavour costs another RM 1.

I had the mix swirl of Matcha and Black Sesame as a parfait RM 17 (+ RM 1) There are other options where you can have it in a Waffle Bowl RM 14, Cone RM 12 or Cup RM 11.

The overall taste of both flavours were really intense, satisfying rich and none of the run-off-the-mill sweetness. The bitterness was beautifully evened out with the addition of crunchy puff rice and chewy mochi. Even the shiratama gave a little surprise when I bit into it. There were actually peanut in them!

The portion might not look very big at first glance (for its price) but it could get real filling. Everything in the cup was solid quality and generously packed with a punch.

Some other items on the menu include the Crispy Crust Polo Bun with Ice Cream (from RM 13.90), Dark Chocolate Brownie with Ice Cream (from RM 18.90) and Brownie Affogato RM 16.90!
