Yam’s Kitchen – Famous Curry Fish Head & $8 per dish Promotion from 8 Aug to 8 Oct

Besides celebrating its 8th Anniversary few days ago alongside National Day, Yam’s Kitchen is back with $8 promotion for five types of dishes from 8 August to 8 October 2018. This deal is only available on weekdays for lunch (all five dishes) and dinner (only limit to one dish).

The five specially selected dishes priced at $8 each include:

  1. Special Fried Hor Fun in Dual Style
  2. Special Sakura Tau Foo with Dried Shrimp & fragrance Shallots
  3. Steamed Fish Tail with Sour Spicy Sauce
  4. Signature Salted Egg Fish Skin with Special Marinated Pork belly Combination
  5. Deep Fried Fish Tail with Garlic and Diced Chilli

Head chef and owner Kelvin Yam takes Hor Fun on a meaningful spin. Breathing in it a new leash of life, the otherwise boring flat noodles are now served duo way. While one side of the plate features the original wet version, another side is loaded with strips of noodles fried till crispy. Even when doused in the soupy egg gravy, the fried noodles still retained that little crunch.

Remember that this dish is called the Special Fried Hor Fun in Dual Style, worth ordering and the portion shown in the photo serves four. For $8 portion, it serves one.

Where else can you get a decent size of fish at $8 too?

The Deep Fried Fish Tail with Garlic and Diced Chilli had me swooning. It was fried till so crispy that even the bones could be eaten. The snowy white flesh was tender and not overly dry, while the skin was slathered with chopped garlic, giving it a sweet, nutty flavor.

The other fish we had was the Steamed Fish Tail with Sour Spicy Sauce. The thick, luscious layer of gravy tasted like a cross between laksa and curry, minus the spiciness.

At $8, you can get the best of both worlds too – Signature Salted Egg Fish Skin with Special Marinated Pork Belly Combination. The fish skin needs no more mention for its taste would send you straight to heaven. As for the sweet-glazed pork belly, it would pair well with some rice too.

From the a la carte menu…

Tofu with Cai Poh and Meat Floss ($10.80S, $14.80M, $17.80L) was highly recommended to us. The homemade silky tofu glided smoothly across my tongue and the bits of fried cai poh and fluffy meat floss delivered a smorgasbord of flavours.

Marmite Spare Ribs ($11.80S, $15.80M, $19.80L) was nothing short of expectation. Flavours were vividly engaging unmarred by the saccharine of the glistening sauce. Kudos to the chef’s staunch effort in plating that paved way for beautiful blossoming of flowers.

Yam’s Kitchen Special Fruit Rojak $8.80 was an eclectic mix of Chinese fried fritters, turnip, tangy pineapples and cucumber in sweet sauce accompanied with a whiff of nutty aroma.

The highly acclaimed Yam’s Kitchen Curry Fish Head ($24.80S, $28.80M) is a must-try. Ladened with dreamy scoops of curry gravy, this pot promised a satiable, comforting meal perfect on its own.

Again, my second trip to Yam’s Kitchen has blessed my stomach with scrumptious dishes that I would possibly travel back for.
