Chong Qing Steamboat & BBQ (also known as Chongqing Steamboat Bar 重庆老火锅烤吧) offers a wide range of meat and seafood ingredients for a duo hotpot and BBQ experience. The restaurant is a convenient few minutes walk from Bugis MRT station, spacious and full house on a Tuesday night during our visit.

Kids (90-130cm): $19.90

Single Pot $6, Double Pot $8, Special Mala Pot $10

Choose from six soup types – Spicy Mala, Nutritious Mushroom, Secret Recipe Pork Bone, Thai Tom Yam, Healthy Tomato and Nourishing Herbal

The ingredients are replenished frequently and displayed in a cold counter.

There are lots of vegetables, meats and seafood to choose from, some of which seemed premium.

Notable items include garlic half shell scallops, garlic bamboo clams, garlic clams, crabs, beef tripe, oysters, whole squid and liver.

A variety of meats such as sliced pork belly, yakiniku pork, black pepper beef and lamb are available. Mushrooms and vegetables are neatly arranged in tall bowls for easy taking.

Some other hotpot favourites that can be found here are lobster claws, Japanese crab sticks, pastes, seaweed chicken, kelp, bamboo shoots and more.

The mala and herbal soup bases are decent. The herbal soup tasted strong and is aromatic with a bitterness to it. The mala flavour has tolerable spice level though could be more numbing.

The grilled half shell scallops are big and juicy. Grilled clams are succulent and tasty.
