Yong Kang Beef Noodle 永康牛肉麵, Taipei – Michelin-recommended Beef Noodle and Steamed Spare Ribs with Rice Powder

Michelin-recommended Yong Kang Beef Noodle 永康牛肉麵 is a popular Taiwanese beef noodle restaurant in Taipei.

It opens at 11AM but there was already a queue forming when I reached around 10:45AM on a Monday morning. The queue seemed to be made up of many Koreans in front and behind me.

The menu is quite straightforward and written in four languages – Mandarin, English, Japanese and Korean.

I had the Braised Beef Noodle Soup (Spicy) (Small NT $280, Large NT $310) and Steamed Spare Ribs with Rice Powder NT $150.

There are other noodle soups like Braised Tendon Noodle Soup (Spicy) (Small NT $320, Large NT $350), a non-spicy version of the Stewed Beef with Noodle Soup (Small NT $280, Large NT $310) and Noodle with Minced Pork Sauce (Small NT $150, Large NT $180).

Some other items on the menu include Spicy Dumpling NT $150 and Stewed Large Intestine with Rice Powder NT $150.

The small beef noodle portion is quite filling, with large chunks of tender beef and thick chewy noodles.

The soup is robust, addictive and not very spicy. There is a side of salty pickled vegetables to add into the soup too.

The Steamed Spare Ribs with Rice Powder is a must-order. The rice is flavourful, sticky and very tasty. It is mixed with pork cubes that are so soft and tender. At the base is sweet potato mash with a little sweetness.

Side dishes are displayed right at the entrance. There are choices like green beans, kelp, eggplants, bean sprouts and more. Customers would have to go up front and queue for it.

The surrounding area has several dessert cafes like Jingimoo 金雞母 and Smoothie House, as well as gift shops to explore too.
