Ay-Chung Flour-Rice Noodle 阿宗麵線, Taipei – Popular Pig Intestine Mian Xian in Ximending
One of the most popular street food in Ximending, Taipei, has got to be Ay-Chung Flour-Rice Noodle 阿宗麵線. Always teeming with long queue, the humble eatery serves only one item on the menu – Pig Intestine Mian Xian.
There are a few tables for dining in. Otherwise, you can stand around like the rest of the patrons slurping from bowls of piping hot noodles.
I arrived early in the morning to avoid the queue. It was already quite hot outside.
There are two sizes available for the noodle – Small NT $60 and Large NT $75.
You can also purchase the noodle in frozen form at NT $80 and their chilli sauce at NT $150.
There are several bits of pig intestines within. They are slightly chewy without the gamey taste.
The goopy soup is very flavourful, enhanced further with the addition of vinegar and chilli, available at the counter. The noodles are also soft and easy to swallow.
Overall, it is quite tasty and makes a good morning breakfast.
