BaShu Sichuan Restaurant – Fish Fillet with Green Pepper and Mapo Tofu

BaShu Sichuan Restaurant 巴蜀演义 has opened another outlet in Plaza Singapura, following its highly raved flagship outlet in Bedok Central.

The restaurant is airy and spacious, and open throughout the day.

The two-page menu offers a tantalising range of Sichuan dishes.

The signature is their legendary Fish Fillet with Green Pepper $28.90, while the Sichuan Spicy Popcorn Chicken $19.90, Roasted Frog Legs with Pickled Peppers $39.90, and Spare Ribs with Fragrant Dried Shallots $20.90 are must-tries.

When ordering online, input your number to become a BaShu member, and enjoy further discounts on selected items.

While many Sichuan restaurants have pickled fish as their signature, BaShu specialises in the Fish Fillet with Green Pepper. Cooked with fresh live fish and authentic Sichuan seasonings, one can expect a flavoursome broth brimming with peppercorns, chopped green chilli, thick chewy noodles, black fungus, dried beancurd skin, and of course, succulent fish slices.

The broth has a deep, savoury taste, gives a slight numbing sensation, and is not spicy.

The portion is good for two.

Equally on par is this plate of Mapo Tofu $9.90. Just by the look of it, it spells spiciness and umami-ness

Served on a hot pan, the sizzling tofu cubes are simmered in a rich and spicy sauce with minced meat.

This might be spicy for some. However, I love the flavour combination and enjoy every bit of it.

An interesting discovery here is the plastic gloves sealed in these cute square packets, bearing fun and funny quotes to spruce up your day further.
