Taikoo Lane unveils new Baby Lobster Soup & Chengdu Bowl’s Sichuan-style Poke Bowls

Perfect in this rainy season, gather your friends and loved ones for a hotpot meal to warm your bellies.

Sichuan and Cantonese-influenced Hotpot Restaurant Taikoo Lane is introducing two new hotpot soup bases and four complementing side dishes.

You can also order over the Chengdu bowls from Chengdu Restaurant, located just right beside Taikoo Lane.

Simmered for eight hours with premium pork knuckles, pork bones and chicken, the Huadiao Collagen Soup (Half, $11.80; Full, $20.80) is further enhanced with a serving of collagen jelly and a bottle of Chinese Huadiao wine that can be added to the broth ourselves.

Another base is the Spicy Pickled Baby Lobster Soup (Half, $16.80; Full, $31.80), a spice-loaded broth which comes with actual baby lobsters for the ultimate indulgence. It is also comparatively more flavourful.

The new sides are:

Lala Clams in Spicy Sauce $12.80 – Plump, juicy clams in a refreshing, tangy sauce

Dragon Fruit Prawn Paste (Half, $8.40; Full, $16.80) – Combining Arctic shrimp and freshly-blended dragon fruit juice, this interesting rendition of our classic prawn paste certainly appeals in visual and taste.

Exploding Volcano Mashed Potatoes $11.80 – This is an interesting dish with savoury bean paste mixed with minced pork belly and mushroom, poured over steamed mashed potato. Nonetheless, I found the taste lacklustre and one-dimensional.

Flaming Braised Pork Ribs $16.80 – The tender, fall-of-the-bone meat is well paired with flavourful seasoning. Definitely a must-try.

Priced from $10.60, these Chengdu Bowls resembled poke bowls but in Sichuan version. Each bowl is accompanied with six Sichuan/western-style sides, a carbohydrate as the base and your choice of protein such as chicken, beef and fish.
