Burger Monster – Korean Burgers from the Folks behind Chicken Up

Burger Monster is a Korean burger joint, operated by the folks behind the well-known Chicken Up. Taking over the previous Chicken Up outlet at Jurong East MRT, Burger Monster stays true to its name, selling burgers of all kinds.

Unique food combinations can be found here such as the Shark Burger and Unagi Roll! Fried Chicken are also available starting from $6 for 2 pieces.

Our eyes are literally drawn to their fascinatingly huge Monster Burger $20! With a choice of either beef or chicken, you get a mammoth-sized patty hidden beneath generous layers of cheese, onions, pickles, fried eggs and tomatoes. It weighed probably 2-3KG and was bigger than my face! Look at that proportion >.< Definitely can feed at least four pax.

We had the chicken patty and it was quite moist and juicy. On the other hand, there were quite a lot of onions which felt too much and raw to my liking. The bread was slightly tough and we thought that the smaller burgers had buns that fared better though.

If someone’s birthday is coming up, maybe a burger cake?

Charcoal Fried Chicken Burger is the latest addition to Burger Monster’s menu. The fried chicken was really enjoyable with the crispy and flavourful coating.

Fried Shark $6 with Garlic Butter Rice $2 was an interesting dish.

Wow, the garlic butter rice was tastefully fragrant. I wouldn’t mind having this again.

The batter of the shark was thin with a little nice seasoning. As for the meat, it was snowy white though a bit bland and dry. I attributed it to the fact that it was shark meat being used here for frying. Seabass $8 or Dory $4 fish would make a better choice I suppose.

I was looking forward to this Unagi Roll $8 and was glad it didn’t disappoint.

A long piece of unagi was glazed in a sweet sauce and stuffed within a bun. Who would have thought of eating unagi in this manner right?

Looking at what seem like a fusion of Western and Japanese, this might come off as strange at first but the taste will get to you after a while. The most important thing was that the unagi was well cooked, soft yet not mushy. For $8, it quite deserved the price tag given that this could fetch a higher price outside.

Don’t forget the sides while you have your mains too!

You can actually top up your mains at

Additional $3: Fries or Garlic Fried Rice + Drink

Additional $5: Fries or Garlic Fried Rice + Free-flow Drinks + Side

Additional $2: Charcoal Burger

Additional $2: Sweet Potato Fries

Signature sides include Fried Shishamo $5, Black Ball $7, Kimchi Fries $7 and Mini Lobster $12.

The chilli crab sauce that came with the Mini Lobster was delicious; sweet, slightly spicy and tangy.

We were curious about the Black Ball and ordered them to try. They were squid ink squid balls, firm and bouncy.

You can’t leave Burger Monster without having their Monster Sauces! They are fully self-service and comes in such colourful arrangement.

Starting with spicy ones such as the Korean Spicy Yangnyum, Korean Yangnyum and Wasabi Mayo, to sweeter options like Bulgogi BBQ, Teriyaki and Ketchup, you can also get neutral flavours with the Tartar sauce and Cheese.

Dessert was Yakult Ice Cream $4 – like your frozen yakult in packets. Refreshing after a heavy meal and good for digestion too!

Here are the menus!

Nice settings with Kpop music videos being aired.

With almost all dishes priced below $10, Burger Monster serves as an alternative to the usual fast food chains in Singapore. They offer something more gourmet such as shark and unagi at affordable prices and differentiate themselves with interesting twist in their food creations like the Kimchi Chicken Roll, Bulgogi Fries and Brocolli Korean BBQ.
