Han Pan Korean Restaurant Opened by True Koreans at Boat Quay – BBQ, Seafood and Meats

You know Korean food won’t be the same old standard when you have got real Korean head chef and a restaurant opened by a group of Koreans.

The dining experience at Han Pan Korean Restaurant just got elevated several notches over a few bottles of soju/ beer, lots of barbecuing and a variety of tasty Korean dishes.

Han Pan Korean restaurant is located at Boat Quay, just a stone’s throw from Clarke Quay MRT.

The menu boasts a huge selection of food ranging from soups/stews to rice/noodles, bar food, Korean fried chicken, meat, seafood and grills. Set Dinners are also available starting from $58 for two pax.

I would highly recommend the King Egg Roll [$15 for 2-3 pax, $30 for 3-5 pax). Made from roughly 20 eggs, the huge egg roll was served straight from the grills before us. If you have seen the video, notice how wobbly and soft it was when being pat down!

Best eaten while it was still hot, the texture of the egg roll was light and fluffy without an overpowering eggy taste. There was also a bit of crunchiness when biting into the ingredients stuffed within too.

The Korean pancakes are generally huge and great for sharing. There are three kinds of pancake on the menu: Seafood $20, Kimchi $20 and a unique Cheese Potato $23 combination.

I can’t leave a Korean restaurant without having my favourite Korean stews. And do you know I actually counted 11 stews/soups on the menu?!

Some must-tries include the signature Bean Paste Seafood Stew $15, Spicy Pork and Tofu Soup $15 and the comforting Ginseng Chicken $15. Instead of meats, diners can also opt for the Fish Roe Tang $15 that consists of fish roe and seafood; something unique I have not seen sold in other Korean restaurants in Singapore.

I love that the Seafood Stew was serving bubbling hot onto our table. The spiciness level was just right though I would have liked it to be more intense personally. There were a lot of ingredients such as squids, prawns, clams and bits of chopped vegetables within. It was so delicious one bowl wasn’t enough for us!

Come to Han Pan for their BBQ which is available for dinner!

I am really being spoilt for choice with the thick slab of Pork Belly $22, Pork Collar $24 and Pork Jowl $25. Indulge also in the Streaky Beef $28, a kind of marbled beef brisket; and if you are in the mood for seafood, get the Jumbo Prawns $22 too.

The meats were grilled before us on a pit that was half tilted. This also allowed the juices of the meats to slide down to the appetisers, adding more flavours to them.

The pork belly was grilled to perfection, thick and juicy with nice layers of melt-in-the-mouth fats. I loved the kimchi especially which was spicy hot off the grill.

We also had an order of a Whole Butter Squid.

The squid was grilled, seasoned and cut before us.

It was huge and could easily feed a group of six.

Of course, what’s a trip to Han Pan without having a tipple or two!

The Ssomac Set $35 comes with 1 soju and 2 beer to create your own soju bomb. More please!

The food at Han Pan Korean Restaurant was nothing short of expectation. The dishes we had were tasty, especially the stews, Korean fried chicken and BBQ items. The option to have BBQ, Ala Carte or both gives diners the flexibility to choose what they want.

Coupled with less commonly seen dishes in Singapore like the huge made-to-order egg roll, it serves as their selling point, differentiating them from the typical Korean restaurants out there. No doubt I would return for more next time!
