Jadjan by Ko Dang, Phuket – Michelin Guide Restaurant for Curry Crab and Stir-fried Crab

Michelin-recommended Thai restaurant, Jadjan by Ko Dang, is known for its Southern Thai dishes and signature curry crab.

The humble restaurant is located by the roadside with some parking lots and brightly lit by night.

There are seats for small and large groups.

The menu serves largely stir-fried dishes like noodles, meat (chicken, pork and beef) and seafood (fish and crab) as well as soup and omelette.

Chef’s specialty dish, Crab with Curry Paste THB 400, is rich and creamy with loads of crab meat and betel leaves. It is not very spicy and leans on the sweeter side. The crab meat is succulent and cleaned of cartilage.

The Fried Crab with Chilli Paste THB 400, on the other hand, still retains the cartilage so you can’t simply chew off the entire piece. It is tasty but also not as spicy as expected.

The Mixed Seafood with Coconut Milk THB 220 is flavourful with a zesty note. It is cooked with lots of ingredients and has big prawns and fishes. The prawns, however, are slightly chewy.

Overall, the dishes are enjoyable, easy on the palate and no frills. If you love crabs, you can have a range of crab dishes here, including the Omelette with Crab Meat THB 220, Fried Crab in various sauces (e.g. Ginger & Spring Onions, Lemon and Curry Powder) THB 400 and Fried Rice with Crabmeat THB 120,

Perhaps the one thing I dislike is the amount of house flies I have to keep sweeping away throughout the meal.
