Shilin Night Market, Taiwanese Pepper Pork Buns; 士林夜市 南港老張胡椒餅

One of Taiwanese’s favourite street food is the fried pork buns. At Shilin Night Market, don’t miss this popular kiosk, Nan Gang Lao Zhang Black Pepper Bun 南港老張胡椒餅, which faces the street.

The buns come in various filling, There are Black Sesame NT $25, Red Bean NT $25, Sugar NT $25, Pepper Pork NT $50, Green Onion (NT $60 for four) and Sour Dough Salty Bread NT $30.

The store has an open concept kitchen which stretches to the far back, You can watch the chefs making the buns by hand.

The Pepper Pork Bun is saucer-shaped, speckled with white sesame seeds and crispy at the edges. It has a thin crispy layer that’s not too oily. The pork filling is generous, juicy and flavourful.
