Sin See Tai 新时代 Melaka Cafe for Popsicle on Waffles & Pretty Tea

Sin See Tai 新时代 is a hole-in-the-wall cafe near the Melaka river. Its rustic appearance blends in perfectly with the neighbouring shops such that I almost walked past the entrance.

Upon entering, I was greeted by the delicious smell of eggs, possibly in preparation for brunch items. The relatively small kitchen shared the same space with the cashier/counter. Orders were made here before ascending a steep flight of stairs to a cosy-looking 15-seater area. It’s actually not that cram and the seats were comfortable with wide tables.

I liked that the menu forewarns about the waiting time because of their tiny kitchen. Nonetheless, that’s not going to stop diners coming and cameras snapping away at OOTD-worthy spots against a backdrop of brick facade, checkered pillows, cushy sofas and greeneries.

The Iced Tea RM11 was palatably priced with an exquisite taste of bitterish tea and sweet-sourish passionfruit seeds combined.

Waffle and Popsicle RM17 was an interesting pairing with the typical ice cream replaced with an icy fruity popsicle of roselle, mango and passionfruit. Each bite was frank in flavour and easily beats so many popsicles out there.

The waffles was surprisingly tasty on its own. The surface crisped into holes and glistened in sweetness. The intersection was slightly chewy yet moist. It made it to my waffle list.
