Taiwan’s Sufood in Singapore: Healthy Vegetarian Dining For A Slimmer You
If vegetarian dish can get any better, Sufood is the place to satisfy your health cravings or to transform you into a veggie-loving human. Surely, Sufood has upped the game by bringing vegetables and mushrooms to a whole new level.
Sufood, 舒果, is a meat-free Taiwanese restaurant opened in Singapore since 2014. It is known for its creative plating and usage of ingredients to create a range of healthy and appetising food at affordable pricing. Using fresh ingredients and healthy cooking methods, it is definitely an alternative for those who often eat out.
This season, new dishes are being introduced to the specially curated 8-course set menu.
The 8- course Vegelicious Feast Set (SGD 39.80 ++) will see an addition of four new exciting dishes, including new fresh salads and black truffle soup.
Sufood Appetizer
The meal began with a medley of vegetables served in a small bowl. Drenched in a sauce that was sweet and sourish, the aftertaste was refreshing.
Bread
The first course was Rosemary Breadsticks with Sufood’s specially concocted sauce which tasted somewhat like a caesar salad sauce. The breadsticks were surprisingly soft on the texture with faint hints of fragrance.
Vinegar
Next, I had the Mulberry Juice Vinegar that instantly perked me up with the sourness that gushed through my mouth. A great source of dietary fibre and vitamins, this is a great drink to start.
Salads
There are three types of salads to choose from:
Mix Fruit & Vegetable Salad (Blueberry Dressing) [NEW]
Macadamia Fruit Salad (Pineapple Dressing)
Caesar Salad (Choice of Caesar Dressing/ BBQ Dressing) [NEW]
All three dressings are distinct in their flavours. The pineapple dressing was a tangy, refreshing sauce as compared to the blueberry dressing which was creamier and fruity. For those who like a rich and thicker sauce, caesar dressing would make a good pick.
Soups
There are three types of soups to choose from:
Cream of Wild Mushroom Souo with Black Truffles [NEW]
Cream of Pumpkin Soup
Burdock Root and Cashew Broth
My favourite was the Wild Mushroom soup, well blended with bits of mushrooms and a dash of truffle infused within. The pumpkin soup was not your usual thick soup as water was used instead of anything creamy. As for the third soup, it was lighter and pleasant to drink.
Main Courses
There are ten choices :
Lion’s Mane Mushrooms with Black Pepper Sauce
Lucky Clover
Wild Mushroom Charcoal Tagliatelle
White Ferula Pesto Pasta
Classic Stir-fried Garlic Pasta
Grain Rice with Mushrooms & Truffles [NEW]
Star Pizza
4 Seasons Pizza
Baked Potato Al Funghi
Zesty Oyster Mushroom Stone Pot Rice
White Ferula Pesto Pasta
Desserts
For the sixth course, there is four types of desserts to choose from.
Crystal Beancure Pudding
Recommended for its soft and silky beancurd pudding.
Roselle Jelly Yoghurt
A roselle-flavoured jelly spread with yoghurt and almond bits on top for an extra crunch.
Vanilla Ice Cream with Chocolate Cake
Chocolate lovers would enjoy this classic dessert with tangy blueberry sauce.
Tiramisu [NEW]
Layers of mascarpone cream, espresso-infused ladyfingers, and sponge cake, dusted with cocoa powder and a side of waffle stick.
Beverages
End the meal with a choice of either hot or cold drink.
The Lively (Cold): A blend of watermelon and tomato
The Very Berry (Cold): A blend of blackcurrants and elderberries.
The Comfy (Cold): Pear with yucca roots
Yuzu Chamomile Tea (Hot): Yuzu-scented chamomile tea
Mint Herbal Tea (Hot): After-dinner tea of mint leaves, lemongrass and liquorice root.
