Tapu Tart, JB – Flaky Egg Tarts with Flavours like Brown Sugar Mochi and Pandan Kaya in KSL City Mall
Newly opened in KSL City Mall (near taxi drop-off point), Tapu Tart brings a taste of Nanyang with its range of assorted puff pastry egg tarts. Touted as Malaysia’s best egg tarts, Tapu Tart boasts freshly baked egg tarts made with real ingredients.
They are available in Original and six other flavours – Pandan Kaya RM4.80, Brown Sugar Mochi RM4.80, Yam RM5.50, Cheese RM5.50, Curry Potato RM5.50 and Musang King RM6.90.
Currently, there is an opening promotion where you get one free Original Tart with six tarts purchased.
The thousand layer puff pastry is crispy thin and flaky while the egg custard is so soft and smooth.
The flavoured tarts are interesting and the flavours blend well together.
Soft and stretchy, the brown sugar mochi lends a fun and sweet chewy texture to the traditional egg tart. Bite into a layer of smooth molten cheese in the Cheesy Tart or enjoy the earthy yam paste mixed with actual yam bits in the Yam Tart.
The savoury Curry Potato Tart is not spicy and the potatoes are soft and nice.
Overall, the egg tarts are decent and each flavour shines on its own.
