Besides Pisco Sour, the Peroni beer owns a healthy portion of the popularity vote among Peruvians too.
The cocktails are palatably priced at $15 each. Get adventurous with the Nusantara Rojak, a daring concoction of chilli-infused vodka mixed in with more chilli, and the visually appealing Inca Tonic that turns into blue-purplish hues upon the addition of blue pea water.
We graced the event on a Wednesday and was honoured to have the Embassador of Peru with us that day too.
Wednesday theme night was about the LOVE between Lima and Caracas, whipped up by Chef Daniel and Gisela.
The first dish came with appetising-looking seafood chunks, so generous that they spilled over a block of Venezuelan Corn Bread in a pool of Tiger’s milk. Prawns were crunchy and sweet while the scallops were noteworthily succulent and bouncy. The corn bread wowed me with its sweet-savoury composition and bits of corns that were spared the gallows laid hidden out of plain sight.
The main course we had was termed the Live Arepa Station. Served with a basket of disc-shaped corn bread and a myriad of colourful sides, we got to DIY our corn bread which was to be split apart and stuffed with ingredients.
Some of my favourite fillings include the scrambled egg and tomato, avocado chicken salad, and shredded roast pork. The avocado salsa also made for a good spread with its acerbic yet refreshing elements in the sauce.
Soup was tasting portions of the National Venezuelan Beef and Tapioca Soup, and Light Fish Broth with Crispy Skin, Rice and Lime.
The former was surprisingly light tasting while the later reminded me of a comforting fish porridge, richer and flavoursome.
Dessert was a flan custard in Diplomatico rum, with firm texture and not as cloyingly sweet as expected.
Three more days to bask in the night of music and fun!
Tickets can be purchased at Quandoo.
