YAO YAO Sauerkraut Fish 姚姚酸菜鱼 Singapore – Tangy Fermented Vegetables with Succulent Fish

After one year, I finally made a return visit to YAO YAO Sauerkraut Fish 姚姚酸菜鱼 at VivoCity. The lunchtime crowd is strong even on a Tuesday. Note that there is a break time in between on weekdays. Reservation is also available now.

The staff is friendly as I remember from my previous visit.

The duo pot with sauerkraut fish and Sichuan poached fish is no longer available.

The other combinations with the signature Sauerkraut Fish are Tomato Fish, Sichuan Poached US Kurobuta Pork and Typhoon Shelter Shrimp with Fries.

Diners can also get the Peking Duck (from $49.90), popular XXL Crispy You Tiao $4.90 and side dishes like Spicy Sichuan Chicken with Broad Beans $18.90 and Sichuan Mala Poached Deshelled Shrimp $23.90.

Prices have slightly increased overall.

The classic YAO YAO Sauerkraut Fish $48.90 comes in a generous portion that can feed two to three.

I can’t rave enough of its deliciousness. The fermented vegetables are generous in portion. The broth is salty, tangy, slightly numbing and not spicy despite the amount of peppercorn and dried chilli.

The sliced fish are pearly white, slippery and succulent.

You can look forward to a second round at home if you have the remaining broth for takeaway.
