Egghost 疍宅, Taipei – Popular Dessert Cafe with Cats and for Chiffon Cakes
Egghost 疍宅 is a homely dessert cafe in Taipei. The space is occupied with old-schooled furniture, vintage lamps and chubby cats that ain’t afraid to snuggle up close.
It feels therapeutic here, away from the bustling city life. The cats are your companions, can be petted and roamed freely. The atmosphere is charming and quiet on a weekday noon too.
The menu offers a variety of drinks from coffee and tea to soda/juice and brown sugar latte.

Chiffon cakes are available in different flavours and two sizes. Signatures include the Matcha Chiffon (from NT $1200), Honey Earl Chiffon (from NT $1200) and Sesame Crunchy Chiffon (from NT $1200).
Taiwan seems big on their flavoured chiffon cakes. The Mount Fuji-lookalike chiffon cake is spongy soft and airy while topped with matcha-infused cream and matcha powder. The matcha flavour is strong and slightly bitter.
The Bubble Brown Sugar latte NT $150 comprises chewy boba pearls, steamed milk and a crisp torched layer of brown sugar.
