Inter Rice Asia – Virtual Sake Event from Sake Pairings with Chocolate and Aged Ham to exclusive Sake Brewery Tour

Inter Rice Asia is rolling out a virtual Sake On-nomi event fortnightly. Combining the words “Online” and “nomimasu (to drink)”, the Sake On-nomi seeks to bring fans of this popular Japanese alcohol together via a Zoom drinking session.

Held on Wednesday, 8PM, each session has a different theme, from pairing sake with chocolate and aged ham to sake blind tasting. Launched since 15 April 2020, this alternate platform seeks to educate the public on the art and background of sake (be it sake and food pairing, industry insights and/or sake brewery tour) and for like-minded friends to share their love and appreciation too.

While booking for the sessions, you can choose between the tasting flight of five 80ml bottles or the full bottle set. The tasting sets will be shipped out in the afternoon of the event day to ensure the freshness. Within the kit, there is also a sake placemat explaining the types and tasting notes of sake to be tried and the zoom meeting Personal Meeting ID and password.

I happened to join their 15th session – Toko’s Virtual Brewery Tour – where we get an exclusive virtual sake brewery tour of Kojima Sohonten (which makes the Toko and Kojimaya Sake brands) in Yamagata.

The five sake for the session include the Toko Junmai Daiginjo Yukimegami Shizuku (Exclusive! Not sold on theartofsake.com), Toko Junmai Daiginjo Shizuku, Toko Junmai Daiginjo, Toko Junmai Ginjo Genshu and Toko Ginjo Umeshu.
