Marui by The Tins, JB – Japanese Peranakan Fusion Restaurant in Eko Botani

Touted as Malaysia’s first Japanese Peranakan fusion restaurant, Marui by the Tins, offers a one-of-a-kind dining experience through its modern and innovative dishes.

The combination of both Japanese and Peranakan cuisines is something interesting to look forward to.

Visit was made in January.

Begin with a round of Pai Ti Kuro RM25, a signature dish where the traditional kueh pie tee is elevated with Ikura and edible flowers. Each piece is served in bite-sized portion which makes it really easy to devour as a whole.

Another highlight is the pan fried Gyoza Itik Ebi RM23 served over green curry and masak lemak curry.

The gyoza is surprisingly huge and plump with meat, while the sambal chilli has kick. Presentation looks appetising.

The star of the day is definitely the Otak Otak Frittata (A La Carte RM32, Set RM35).

Top up for the Teishoku Set where you can get a side of salad, seaweed miso soup, steamed pea flower rice, pickled vegetables and sambal chilli.

The frittata is mixed with a range of ingredients like squid, prawn and fish. Each bite is soft and flavourful. The portion is generous too.
