Moonbow – Valentine’s Day 6-Course Special in a Romantic Restaurant on Dempsey Hill

I love a night out at Dempsey Hill. Tucked away from the bustling town area, there is a sense of tranquility and class while choices remain aplenty with different cuisines to choose from.

Adding to the line of existing restaurants is Moonbow, with a welcoming posh interior and a menu boosting modern European dishes with an asian touch.

With Valentine’s Day around the corner, this might be the place to impress your date with a 6-Course Special Set Menu ($128++ per pax) available on 13 (dinner) and 14 (lunch and dinner) February 2021.

Ease into your meal with a flute of Hendricks & Rose (comprising of Hendricks Gin, Carbonated Non-alcoholic Rose, Japanese Cucumber Cordial and Lemon) – a floral, light tasting cocktail which easily warrants a second.

The Strawberry Aromatic Blush mocktail is also a Valentine’s Day exclusive, consisting of a blend of Lyre’s London Spirit, Strawberry Tea Cordial, Lemon and Soda.

We began with a side of Butter Brioche, served on a moonbow ceramic. The interesting hardware, featuring one half of a plate, is the work of Iron Man Chef Heman, who is also an ardent ceramist.

The Amuse Bouche, Beef Rillette with crunchy artichoke chips, is served next, followed by the starters – a pair of Fine de Claire Oysters perched on a rocky mount, accompanied with a sweetness from the Hokkaido Bafun Uni and tomato granita toppings.

Coined the Salmon Sphere, slices of beetroot lemon cured salmon are wrapped around blue swimmer crab meat (a surprise reveal!) to mimic a tantalising seafood ball, while garnished with popping Ikura roe, granny smith apple and raspberry.

After the refreshing entrees, we were treated to a rich and creamy bowl of Wild Forest Mushroom soup and a fried Girolle Mix Mushroom Ravioli as the centrepiece.

Intermezzo was a much-needed palate-cleansing scoop of Champagne Sorbet.

Each diner will get to savour two mains – Adam’s Magert de Canard and Eve’s Black Cod. The latter stole the limelight for its flakey, succulent consistency, well-paired with buttery sauce and earthy crustacean kombu soil for the contrast. The Sous Vide Duck Breast, on the other hand, could be more tender.

Chef Heman’s Cigar & Lydia’s White Lady Mocktail got us high with a 70% Dark Chocolate and peanut butter-infused cigar-liked cake, hence a side of fizzy mocktail soup is needed to calm our senses.

For the ultimate experience, you can add on $38++ per pax for wine pairing.

*Portions shown are for one person and can be quite filling for small eaters.
