NI.KIZOKU Modern Japanese Dining Bar, KL Chinatown – Lavish Japanese Fare and Cocktails

NI.KIZOKU Modern Japanese Dining Bar is a modern Japanese restaurant and bar in Kuala Lumpur, with touches of European influences in its food and decor. The interior is cosy and romantic, accentuated by warm light hues. One can choose to sit in the ‘cave’ or main dining area.

The menu offers a wide range of dishes, like salad, caviar, live oyster, sashimi, nori taco, sushi moriawase, grilled meat, noodles/pasta and rice.

Begin with the Special Kizoku Oyster RM59, accompanied with creamy uni, caviar, Ikura and gold flakes, and served in a shroud of mist. Oyster lovers may also slurp on oysters from Canada (RM29/pcs), USA (RM25/pcs) and Japan (RM29/pcs) available on the menu too, in sashimi or grilled version (except Japan).

Meanwhile, the Hokkaido Carpaccio RM39 is pure indulgence. Slices of chilled Hokkaido scallops and salmon are lavished with sea grapes, ginger strips and pomegranate, while generously doused in homemade basil tekka sauce that’s immensely savoury.

The Uni Kizoku Nori Taco RM45 and Botan Caviar Nori Taco RM33 are equally amazing. Cradled within the seaweed tempura are flavoured rice topped with the respective ingredients. The former comes with burnt Hokkaido scallop, uni and Ikura while the latter comprises of sweet Botan prawn, Ikura and caviar. It’s a two-bite bliss while being aesthetically pleasing too.

Other highlights include the Sushi Moriawase that allows one to savour 5 Types Sushi RM69 and 7 Types Sushi RM109 featuring assorted fresh seafood.

Complement the meal with their signature Ni Cocktails. Good for sharing (or all for one!), the Tomato Zuke Sangria RM42 is served in three glasses, with its content reminiscent of the Spanish Sangria. It’s infused with Cameron Highlands Cherry Tomatoes and alcohol-soaked pomegranate, easy to drink and refreshing on the palate. There is even a Uji Matcha Beer RM25 too.

Service here was also swift and attentive.
