Spice Brasserie Weekend Seafood Buffet Promo with Crabs, Slipper Lobsters & Prawn Carrot Cake at PARKROYAL on Kitchener Road

Spice Brasserie at PARKROYAL on Kitchener Road is back with the crowd-favourite seafood buffet. This time, presenting to you is the Oh Crab, It’s Back! weekend seafood dinner that highlights fresh catches alongside a first-ever DIY mocktail bar.

From 17 May to 16 August 2019, tuck into unlimited servings of crabs, slipper lobsters, seabass, prawns, and more. The buffet is available for lunch (A: $48, C: $24) on Saturdays and Sundays, and dinner (A: $58, C: $29) on Fridays to Sundays.

Be greeted by the cold section of crab legs, slipper lobsters, prawns and shellfishes as you walk in.

We attacked the crabs instantly. Piping hot from the buffet line, these should be savoured in their optimum temperature and accompanying rich gravy.

The three crabs available were the Chili Crab with Mantou, Black Pepper Crab and Salted Egg Crab. It’s a good sign that the meats came off the shell easily, succulent and nicely soaked with the sauce that seeped in between the shells. While the Singaporean in me wished for a more fiery version of the Chilli Crab, the Black Pepper Crab hit the right spots in taste, though could be more peppery. The Salted Egg Crab was good in its own world of rich savoury sauce.

The Stir Fried Slipper Lobster in Black Bean Sauce was meaty and equally tasty.

I was stoked to find the live station serving Penang Assam Laksa and Fried Carrot Cake with Prawns.

It’s a rare sight in a buffet but also one of those moments I am ordering carbs to try.

The Penang Assam Laksa broth was rich-tasting with mackerel bits and a touch of acidity. You get to top it off with ingredients such as the freshly chopped onions, pineapples and cucumber. Besides the noodles which weren’t the usual Penang-style, everything else was simply marvellous.

My companion, on the other hand, loved the Fried Carrot Cake. It’s like your restaurant version of the carrot cake, minus the wok-hei, and served with more class. The radish cubes were so soft, yet not mushy, while the egg omelette remained fluffy. The chilli was sweeter than expected but it made for a refreshing change.

Other items on the buffet line include the Oatmeal Prawns with Curry Leaves, Marmite Chicken (crispy and so delicious!), Steamed Whole Seabass Hong Kong Style, Slow Roast Beef with Gravy, and XO Seafood Bee Hoon.

I was really excited about the DIY Mocktail Bar.

There are several cordials of various colours which come in flavours like apricot, blue curacao, strawberry and so on.

The chilled sodas on the side can be used as the base. Then I added in some ice, a few punches of my desired syrups, drop in a cherry and some lime slices, and ta-dah, my make-shift mocktail is done!

At Spice Brasserie, you should never miss out on the Durian Pengat. Of course, there’s also the Portuguese Egg Tart, Nonya Kuehs, Ondeh Ondeh Cake, Mousse Cake, Shooters, Pulut Hitam, Durian Sticky Rice, and DIY Ice Kacang and Chendol.
