Amazing Hokkaido – Overflowing Salmon Roe Rice Bowl at Robertson Quay

Hokkaido has established herself as the mecca for fresh seafood, and all things good about Japanese cuisine. In fact, if I could describe the whole of Hokkaido in one word, it would have to be “amazing”. So, no surprises that the newest addition to Robertson Quay’s bevvy of after-work hangouts and restaurants should be named as such – Amazing Hokkaido.

Besides fresh produce flown in daily from Hokkaido, Amazing Hokkaido’s 100-seater interior is done up to mimic an authentic izakaya – cosy, lively, and overflowing with good food and drinks.

And true to the izakaya, is a plethora of mouth-watering yakitori, ranging from Muroran Yakitori ($3.90++), a famous Hokkaido dish consisting of tender grilled pork and onion, to the Melty 7 Kinds of Tusukune ($28.90++), a seven-skewer platter served with adventurous toppings such as mentai mayo, fondue cheese, and wasabi.

Truly adventurous diners can test their gut, literally, with the Bibi Yakitori ($4.90++), which utilise every part of the chicken, including the gizzard, liver, and heart.

Refresh your tastebuds, and hit those nutrition quotas with Sasaki’s Farm Organic Vege Salad ($15.90++), chock full of natural flavours and delightfully vibrant colours. Otherwise, indulge in some Hokkaido Fried Potato with Seaweed and Mentaiko Mayonnaise ($10.90++).

From Amazing Hokkaido’s seafood selection, comes a variety of fresh cuts flown in from the Kaneshime Takahashi fishing company and Yamamura seafood processing industry. Savour sashimi made fun with the Tokujo Assorted Hokkaido Fresh Sashimi ($69.90++), which stacks enticing cuts of salmon, tuna akami, fatty tuna, scallop sweet shrimp, and sea urchin in an eye-popping arrangement.

For something truly dramatic, you won’t go wrong with the Bursting Salmon Roe Rice Bowl ($39++). Be sure to whip out your phones to capture the ever dramatic and enthusiastic servers heaping spoonful after spoonful of umami-laden ikura into your rice bowl!

Another fiery performer is the Hokkaido Wagyu Steak ($23.90++), which is set ablaze on a lava stone plate before your eyes.
