Angelina Tearoom – Experience a Slice of Paris with French Pastries, Cakes & Afternoon Tea at Marina Bay Sands

Founded in 1908 by Austrian confectioner Antoine Rumpelmayer, Angelina is a French tearoom named in honour of his daughter-in-law and has been graced by renowned visitors such as Coco Chanel and Proust.

The popular brand has several outlets worldwide including one in Singapore. Without the need to travel abroad, you can experience a luxurious dining moment at Angelina which closely resembles the look and feel of the actual Angelina outlets in France, completed with the canal of Marina Bay Sands as a nice backdrop.

Sit back and relax while you sip on their signature Old-fashioned Hot Chocolate ‘L’Africain’ $13, and indulge in warm pastries, delicate cakes and hearty savouries from classic eggs benedict and club sandwich to pasta and poultry dishes.

Or simply enjoy a lavish afternoon Tea Set $35 with your girlfriends, which comprises of mini assorted pastries, canapés and your choice of tea, coffee or hot chocolate.

Cake lovers would be spoilt for choice at the wide selection.

One of my favourites is the Opéra $14, a quintessential French layered pastry. Angelina’s version boosts a stronger coffee aroma and flavour than the ones I had elsewhere, which I particularly enjoyed.

The signature pastry, Mont-Blanc $15, features a dome-shaped chestnut vermicelli surrounding a light whipped cream core bearing the texture of meringue. The simplicity of the ingredient pairing strives to bring out the flavour and texture of the chestnut. It is a sweeter dessert but an interesting one. If you are keen, you can also seek out the chestnut spreads available for retail in store.

For something refreshing, the well-balanced Tarte Citron $12 comes with a lemon and lime infused smooth custard-like filling. It was not overly sourish nor sweet, hence making it a very welcoming dessert to have.
