Baan Sutra Guesthouse, Phuket Old Town – Affordable, Spacious Room and Convenient Location

Baan Sutra Guesthouse is a two-star accommodation located in Phuket Old Town. Rating it two-star is an understatement. Given the room quality and convenient location, it is easily one of the best stays you can find in the area.

Moreover, it is a walking distance from cafes, Sunday night market, famous streets like Soi Romanee, mural arts and more. Some popular eats include the Michelin-recommended O Cha Rot, Shan Coffee Old Town, Cheevit Cheeva, Bookhemian and Craftist.

I made the booking through Expedia for two nights, at around SGD 50 per night.

The little boutique hotel has four floors comprising of ten rooms with a view and no lift in the building. There is a communal space in the lobby combined with the reception. The male staff here is really friendly.

Meanwhile, check-in time is at 2PM while check-out time is at 11AM (which is a little early for me). However, they allow guests to leave their luggages in the lobby.

I stayed in the Superior Room on the fourth floor.

The room is clean and spacious. Even with the king size bed in the middle, there is ample space to walk around.

There is a dressing table, side table, open-air wardrobe as well as bottled water and coffee/tea sachets.

The TV only has Google TV which means you have to connect your accounts (e.g. Netflix and YouTube) to it before using. The resolution is good.

The air conditioner also works well.

The bathroom, however, is on the other side of the bedroom.

Only basic toiletries like shampoo and soap are available here.

If there is anything you need to stock up on, there are convenience stores nearby too.

Interestingly, if you were to peel back the curtains, the room overlooks the staircase, making the space feels even roomier.
