A Tale of Three Lobsters & A Crab Buffet Promo at Ginger, PARKROYAL on Beach Road

Lobster and Seafood Shanghai Noodle Soup

Every so often, I will come across crustacean promotions in so-and-so restaurants that literally brought the entire ocean to my table. This is probably the reason why I have been so fervently gracing the entrances of various hotels under the Pan Pacific Hotels Group; because they always offer such amazeball SHELLection that would bring seafood lovers to their knees.

I wouldn’t miss a single crab party at Spice Brasserie at PARKROYAL on Kitchener Road nor forget their lobster brothers at Lime’s Lobsterfest. Speaking of the best seafood on ice that got me hooked head over heels, it had to be the one from Edge at Pan Pacific Singapore (which I raved the first time here); clearly the winner went to the chunky Alaskan crab leg meats thicker than my thumb. Then there was an occasion when oysters took the forefront at 10 at Claymore, selflessly sacrificing dozens of themselves for our hungry tummies.

Ginger Asian Kitchen at PARKROYAL on Beach Road is the latest addition to the Pan Pacific Hotels Group in Singapore. Swimming with the tide, Ginger introduced a new themed buffet titled A Tale of Three Lobsters and a Crab. (Previously it was a lip-smacking Mentaiko lobster buffet.)

The title explains all, where you can expect four specially curated seafood dishes. They are the Pumpkin Lobster in Claypot, Lobster and Seafood Shanghai Noodle SoupLobster Kebabs with Balinese Sauce (Basa Gede) and crowd-favourite Crab Bee Hoon!

Pumpkin Lobster in Claypot

My heart went out to the Lobster and Seafood Shanghai Noodle Soup, featuring a light seafood broth with faint hints of spiciness that tugged at the back of my throat. Diving in, there were more oceanic gems like the scallops and crab claws on a bed of flat noodles. For a bowl that looked almost puny, the discovery was significant.

On the other hand, I was taken aback by the disparity in the Pumpkin Lobster in ClaypotWhether I was expecting Spice Brasserie’s version or there was a tweak in the recipe, the two claypots of lobsters we had produced chewier meats juxtaposed against the otherwise thin gravy.

Crab Bee Hoon was gratefully rewarding. The noodles was moist and accentuated with the sweet juices of the crabs. This is the kind of carbs one should be having in a buffet.

Crab Bee Hoon

Another crab dish on the buffet line was the Chilli Crab served with mantou alongside.

There were also the tasty Salt and Pepper Prawns donned in crispy shells, Sweet and Sour Pork and a Teochew Porridge station with an assortment of accompaniments, Braised Tau Kee, Duck and Egg.

Embark on a carnivorous journey with the Roast Beef, Chicken and Char Siu too.

The noodle station also allows you to order Prawn Mee Soup and Bak Kut Teh. Both broth was delicious.

Besides it being relatively spicier, I can customise my Prawn Mee Soup further with yellow/white/both noodles, chilli sauce, prawns, sliced eggs, pork and shallots.

Seafood on Ice

A surprise find at the dessert counter was the Black Sesame Tang Yuan (sweet rice balls) in sweet gingery soup, a rare occurrence in buffet. Additionally, the chilled Mango Sago was a joy to have after a savoury meal.
