Si Chuan Dou Hua Buffet Promo – 102 Sichuan Dishes in 26 Flavour Profiles

Think Sichuan cuisine is all about spicy food that numbs your tastebuds? Think again. Si Chuan Dou Hua is back to debunk all misconceptions with its fourth edition of the popular 100 Sichuan Delights, 1 Gastronomic Feast promotion.

From 8 July to 20 September, diners get to enjoy a total of 102 dishes featuring 26 flavour profiles. Priced at $60 per adult and $30 per child (6 – 12 years old), this mouthwatering feast includes a complimentary glass of sake for you to wine and dine the night away.

UOB Cardmembers get to enjoy a ‘one dines free with every three paying adults’ promotion.

100 Sichuan Delights, 1 Gastronomic Feast is the brainchild of Executive Chef Zeng Feng, who wanted to showcase the many facets of Sichuan cuisine beyond the ubiquitous mala flavour. These include the five spice, plum sauce, Sichuan bean paste, hot and sour, and more. See if you can detect the different flavour profiles in this indulgent feast!

It’s easy to get lost among this dizzying array prepared by Chef Zeng Feng and his team, and I did wish there was some sort of guide or sequence for us to experience the flavour profiles available.

Having said that, some of Sichuan Douhua’s standout dishes hail from the seafood category. The Boiled Fresh Sliced Fish in Minced Sichuan Pepper Sauce, Braised Fish in Spicy Bean Paste, and Fresh Prawns in Sichuan Style present a perfect marriage of fresh seafood with carefully blended spices and sauces.

Noteworthy meat-based dishes include Chilled Chicken in Chinese Rice Wine, Stir-Fried Slice Beef with Chilli Powder Served with “Dou Hua”, and Shredded Chicken with Exotic Sichuan Sauce. Here, simple cuts are elevated to toothsome creations worthy of a second round.

Not to be missed is the restaurant’s most popular dish, “Chong Qing” Diced Chicken with Dried Chilli, which is traditionally prepared with boneless chicken for your dining convenience. Have fun trawling through all that dried chilli for your precious bite of chicken! The Steamed Pork Belly in Sweet Sauce is another visual feast that stands out with its unique plating.

Comforting flavours abound in Sichuan Douhua’s vegetable and tofu-based offerings.

Diner seeking a milder start to their meal (as opposed to plunging headfirst into the spicier portions of the buffet) can turn to dishes like Braised Bean Curd in Sweet Bean Sauce, Long Beans in Ginger Sauce, and Stir-Fried French Beans with Minced Meat.

And for those who simply cannot go without at least one carb based dish at every meal (me being one of them), try some Sichuan Minced Meat Noodles which pack a spicy punch in every bite.

Last but not least, complete your meal with a selection of desserts, which includes a very satisfying Crispy Sesame Glutinous Rice Ball with Sesame Bean Paste.

Once again, Sichuan Douhua has knocked it out of the park with a whopping 22 new additions to 2019’s edition of 100 Sichuan Delights, 1 Gastronomic Feast.
