Wan Xing Mala Hot Pot, Woodlands MRT – $15 Chong Qing Grilled Fish
Wan Xing Mala Hot Pot 万兴麻辣香锅 is located at Woodlands MRT Station. The small eatery is usually busy whenever I pass by at night.
The mala hot pot (mala xiang guo) is quite reasonably priced, with vegetables (from $1) and meat (from $3).
Additionally, the Chong Qing Grilled Fish $15 is one of the more affordable grilled fish in Singapore. There are three flavours to choose from – Sichuan Peppercorn, Mala and Suan Cai.
I had the mala flavour. The spice level is manageable and it can be numbing with lots of peppercorn. The fish meat is tender and comes with a few pieces of cabbages. It is slightly on the saltier side hence it would be good to complement with a bowl of rice. Otherwise, the portion is alright for one person.
