Rung Rueang Pork Noodle, Bangkok Michelin Guide – Famous Tom Yum Minced Pork Noodle Soup

Bangkok’s Michelin-recommended Rung Rueang Pork Noodle is famous for its minced pork noodle soup.

Just before 11AM on a Monday, the restaurant is already packed. There are also many Grab deliveryman outside waiting for the food orders.

Right beside Rung Rueang Pork Noodle, there is another very similar brand. But it seems like that’s the Michelin-recommended one (I have entered the wrong shop!)

The menu is tourist-friendly with five languages. Start by choosing the Flavours (Dry, Tom Yum Dry, Pork Soup, Tom Yum Soup) then the Topping (Mixed, Pork, Minced Pork & Fish, Fish) and Noodles (Egg Noodle, Rice Vermicelli, Medium Rice Noodle, Thick Rice Noodle, Glass Noodle, Kiami Noodle). Prices are quite affordable at Small THB 60, Medium THB 70 and Large THB 80.

Appetisers like Deep Fried Fish Skin THB 20 and drinks are available too.

I ordered the tom yum soup with mixed ingredients and glass noodle, in small portion.

The portion is good enough to try everything at once. There are big chunks of minced pork, several pork slices, fishball and fish cake, completed with chopped green onions and peanuts. On the table are condiments like green chilli, chilli flakes and peanuts to spice up your soup further, if needed.

The soup is flavourful with no porky taste but not spicy for a tom yum base. Ingredients are generous. The fishballs are bouncy good and the minced pork is juicy and tender. The addition of bean sprouts lends a crunchy bite.
